Destroyed Ukrainian religious sites

According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the majority of 370 registered heritage sites destroyed as a result of Russian aggression are religious buildings. Out of these, 49 are registered monuments of history, architecture or urban planning of all-national importance – such as the Eletsky Holy Dormition Monastery (Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos) in Chernihiv, dating from the 11th to 17th centuries, and the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Kharkiv from the turn of the 18th century. In the Kyiv region, the Church of St George in the village of Zavorichy of the year 1873 and the Church of the Ascension in Lukianivka of the year 1879, have also fallen victim to the war. Faced with the scale of destruction of Ukrainian religious buildings, President Volodymyr Zelensky has been quoted as saying that the actions of the Russians amount to “a complete denial of universal values”.
